About LGA
Livonia Gymnastics Academy (LGA) is a unique program prepared to meet the needs of the community. The Gymnastics Program is run through the Livonia Public Schools, Community Education Service Department. For more than 15 years, LGA offers a wide range of classes for ages 1 year to 18 years. This includes Early Childhood Gymnastics, Kinder Gymnastics, Girl's School Age Progressive Gymnastics, Progressive Tumbling, High School Gymnastics, and Competitive Gymnastics.
Our goal at LGA is to develop each individual's gymnastics potential in a safe, yet enjoyable atmosphere. Using specific gymnastics progressions and a highly trained staff, each gymnast will learn the correct fundamentals and basic skills which will equip him/her with the knowledge and ability to progress to whatever level he/she desires. Our instructors use the sport of gymnastics to help each child gain greater self-confidence and a more positive self-image.
Staff
The staff at LGA continually attends local, state, regional, and national clinics in order to remain up-to-date on the most current methods and safety procedures. The staff also attends yearly CPR/First Aid classes.
Why Gymnastics?
Studies have shown that early childhood movement, including gymnastics, is directly attributed to developing neurological pathways and promoting reading readiness. Also, children who have participated in activities such as gymnastics have longer attentions spans, increased communications skills, general problem solving skills and improved self-esteem. Gymnasts tend to do very well in school.
Gymnasts are among the strongest, pound-for-pound, of all Olympic athletes and are among the most flexible of all athletes. They are very good at both static and dynamic balance. Early on gymnasts learn to fall without injuring themselves. Involvement in gymnastics is an excellent way to improve overall athletic ability and coordination.
What does all this mean for your child? It means that even if your child is not destined to be a high level gymnast, they will still be gaining valuable life experiences during their participation.
